The Peninsula Manila for our mom’s birthday staycation? What a great idea! My sister and I brought our mom there to celebrate her birthday. It was quite a fun stay, but this post will be a food photo dump. We ate so much while we were there.
ROOM SERVICE
We headed to The Peninsula Manila with empty stomachs, so when we got to our room, we decided to order room service. Then a team member popped by, greeted our mom a happy birthday, and gave her a box with cake. Then we noticed the welcome treats.
Then room service came along with our late lunch, so yay!
My mom went for the Herb-crusted Sea bass, which she truly enjoyed.
I had my tasty Seafood Linguini…
…while my sister had some Citrus-poached Chilean Salmon.
The way they executed room service was pretty lovely.
They also gave my mom two birthday cakes on her special day. What a thoughtful and delicious gesture!
Afternoon Tea at The Lobby of Peninsula Manila
I made reservations for our group to go for Afternoon Tea in The Lobby. Unfortunately, the regular Afternoon Tea menu wasn’t available. They were introducing their Naturally Peninsula plant-based menu, so we tried that instead.
“Naturally Peninsula Cuisine is prepared with natural, nutritious plant-based ingredients, designed to support a wellness lifestyle.”
Breakfast at Escolta
The next day, we went to their on-site restaurant Escolta for a brunch buffet. So much food yet I didn’t get to take pictures of the buffet.
The Lobby
Before we checked out, we ate at The Lobby again. We couldn’t leave without eating The Peninsula Manila’s award-winning Halo-halo Harana.
We also ordered the Peninsula Wagyu Beef Burger…
…and the Mediterranean Sampler.
Peninsula Boutique
I also checked out the Peninsula Boutique and bought a box of six Macarons with Sans Rival, Salted Caramel, Ube Macapuno, Coffee Baileys, Quezo de Bola, and Cookies and Cream. Each one was so good, dainty, and light!
How do you even pick a favorite? Next time, I have to try other flavors like Strawberry, Calamansi, Sweet Cherry, and Buko pandan.
UPDATE (21 November 2022): We went back to The Peninsula Manila to eat at Spices, so I also popped by the Peninsula Boutique and bought all the macaron flavors! The other flavors were so good too. I’m not picking any favorites!
Here are some more photographs I took while roaming around the hotel.
Verdict:
The Peninsula Manila was a delightful place for a birthday staycation. You don’t even need to go outside to eat! From the moment I booked our stay until we checked out, their impeccable customer service was impressive. I even received an e-mail from the Director and Chief Operating Officer, “I wanted to personally write to you and thank you for staying with us at The Peninsula Manila last week.” I was charmed, and couldn’t wait to stay there again. They were very attentive to our birthday girl, our mother, who relished the attention showered upon her by the hotel staff. Even when we encountered a little hiccup, they apologized and sorted it out without inconveniencing us. The only downside? The hotel is not pet-friendly. *sighs* But would we stay there again? Most definitely!
