I am embarrassed to admit that despite living in Fairfield County for 10 years, we only ate at The Cookhouse Restaurant recently. Shame on us! Every time we passed by the place when we go to New Milford, I’d always tell my husband, “we should check out that place!” But somehow, we never got around to doing so until lately.
On our way there, we knew that we were trying out their barbecue. It’s what they’re known for, so that’s what we’ll have.
Hubby suggested that we order the Tombo Combo ($21.99) to share. I was hesitant at first. “Can we finish it?” “We can just take home the leftovers.” “I don’t want to waste it. It’s too much food! Let’s just order a nice sandwich each.” Hubby stared at me blankly. OK, OK, we did go there for the barbecue. So. . .we ordered the Tombo Combo, plus dirty rice and steamed vegetables for the sides. They served the food to us in two plates already, which was very considerate of them. Each plate had ribs, chicken, pulled pork and sausage.
Who was I kidding? Of course we finished everything! 😀 We left the restaurant stuffed to the brim. So much for my earlier hesitation that we won’t finish the food!
We went there before 1pm when the place wasn’t full. It didn’t take long for us to get seated, have our orders taken and then served.
With its generous portions of tender, juicy and flavorful meat, The Cookhouse’s Tombo Combo was definitely a steal. It’s not heart-healthy, but you can’t say no to this kind of treat every now and then. If you love your meat, then by all means, visit The Cookhouse Restaurant. I’m only too happy that we finally visited this restaurant.

Looks good — but New Milford is way the hell up there! I don’t think I have ever actually set foot in that town lol.
If you find yourself up in this area, check it out!
Oooh! That looks so good! What a great experience you had!
Thanks, Carrie! It took forever to go there, but worth it!
