Sending a shout-out to Talisay The Garden Cafe for today’s late lunch!
Hubby and I went there today with my mom. We’ve been eyeing that restaurant for awhile when we pass by Maginhawa. Here’s what we had:
* Crispy Pork Belly Adobo -“twice-cooked pork belly with adobo sauce, chicken liver pate and a side of pickled eggplant”
* Ternate Ginger Fizz – “carbonized butterfly pea tea with fresh ginger and lemon juice”
* Chicken Pianggang – “grilled chicken in black curry sauce made with a spiced and char-burned coconut meat”
* Baked Tortang Talong – “layers of grilled eggplant mixed with egg, tomato and topped with melted cheese”
Verdict:
Thankfully, it was a cool afternoon when we went there, so we sat out in their well-maintained garden seating area with our furbabies. The garden has Talisay trees! Nice to see them being true to their name. The menu introduced us to pianggang, a dish that originated from the Tausugs of southern Mindanao. Just for that intro to a new dish, Talisay won me over, and the service was pretty good too. Now I am curious about their Lapu-lapu Inaluban described as “pan-seared fish fillet with slow cooked coconut curry infused with homemade palapa sauce”. I’m also planning to try their Mango-Calamansi Mousse paired with Mango Sorbet and their Warm Kamias or Apple Tart with Vanilla Ice Cream for next time.
