As a final hurrah before the July 4th long weekend was officially over, our little troop consisting of my older sister, hubby, me and the little pup stopped by Rocky Point Clam Shack in Warwick, RI. “Rhode Island Monthly” magazine had a list of the best lobster rolls in Rhode Island, which included Rocky Point. We thought of going to Iggy’s first to try their donuts, but the lure of the lobster rolls won.
As you can see, they offer outdoor seating using picnic tables painted red, white and blue. Their color scheme was so very 4th of July.
The three of us ordered Rocky Point sodas. I drank the ginger ale.
Now, we didn’t go to Rocky Point Clam Shack for their clams. We went for their lobster rolls! They have what they call “Rocky Point Amazing Lobster Roll” just for $13.99, believe it or not! You choose whether you want the cold version tossed in Hellman’s Mayo or the hot version sauteed in real Cabot butter. Naturally, hubby and I ordered both!
Here’s the first one, the cold version.
Looks good, right? Now here’s the hot version.
Again, a gorgeous little sandwich!
Verdict: After taste-testing both rolls, we agreed that the lobster roll sauteed in butter was the winner! Come on, it was cooked in butter! Of course it would win. The location was pretty unusual – not in a waterfront but just some big ol’ parking lot. If you’re looking for a nice waterfront view, you’ll be disappointed. Turns out that there used to be an amusement park there, which closed down. Service was pretty efficient with a pretty short wait time for food. Then again, we went early so that might be the reason. Some people supposedly go there for the nostalgia it evokes, but for us, we’ll go for the buttery lobster rolls!
