Just because it’s Mother’s Day, my husband wanted to take me out for lunch. I knew where I wanted to go – Mamak in Flushing, NY – but it takes us more than an hour to get there, so I hesitated (oh yeah, the hesitation is more along the lines of, “I’ll be too hungry by the time we get there!”). He was only too willing, so we ended up going.
This wasn’t our first time to go to Mamak. We went here last year. You see, I went to Malaysia on my own last summer and fell in love with Malaysian food. After coming back here, I’ve been on the look-out for Malaysian restaurants. Sadly, nothing here where I live so we really have to drive far just to satisfy my craving. It was great finding Mamak. We even met Nani Hughie Yusof (the owner) the first time we went there and told her that I’ve been to KL. She recommended that I visit Penang next time (which I hope to).
Now here’s we had for lunch.
I didn’t order Milo Dinosaur this time, so I could try Teh Ais (Malaysian Iced Tea). We also didn’t order Cendol (my favorite!) because I wanted to try Ais Kacang.
Once again, the food didn’t disappoint so we’ll definitely head back there the next time my craving for Malaysian food strikes. Terima kasih, Mamak, for such yummy Malaysian food!
