We can never visit downtown Baltimore in Maryland without dropping by Lexington Market for the delicious crab cakes from Faidley Seafood. It’s a must-do and must-eat for us
I don’t even remember when we discovered their crab cakes, really. But ever since we stumbled upon that place, we don’t even order crab cakes from other places because they all pale in comparison.
During our recent visit, hubby and I each ordered our own Jumbo Lump Crab Cake with cucumber salad and collard greens for the sides. My sister opted for the clam strips (which I didn’t get to photograph). Hubby also ordered some oysters from the oyster bar.
#1. Their crab cakes are big. With a name like Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes, its size is exactly that – jumbo. It’s not flat, so unlike crab cakes sold in other places.
#2. You get what you pay for. You want crab cakes filled with crab meat, not fillers.
#3. If you’re looking for a fancy sit-down meal, you’re in the wrong place. Faidley is located in a market. Adjust your expectations accordingly. There are tables where you can put down your food while you stand and eat. We usually order food to go, then we head to Federal Hill Park so we can have an impromptu picnic. Hanging out there is always nice because you see Baltimore’s Inner Harbor right across your bench.
If you’re ever in downtown Baltimore, visit Lexington Market for the experience and definitely try Faidley crab cakes. You’ll find plenty of Yelp reviews about them, but nothing beats experiencing it yourself.
