Eating Out: Deo Gracias | Quezon City, Philippines

Deo Gracias is a Spanish restaurant here in Quezon City that has been under my radar for so long! Thankfully, hubby stumbled upon it when he was looking for paella in the city for Valentine’s Day.

He remembered that I’ve been wanting paella lately!

He considered making a reservation at Azadore again, but to his surprise, Deo Gracias popped up!

After we looked over their menu, hubby and I agreed that we would be good and disciplined. Oh, how we kidded ourselves!

For our starters, we ordered their Croquetas Bacalao. It was not on the menu, but our server recommended it. It’s salt cod croquettes.

Then of course, we added the Salchichón Ibérico (Spanish Iberian Salami). It is cured acorn-fed Ibérico pork sausage.

Presa Ibérica is “Seared presa Ibérica, chanterelle mushrooms, green asparagus, roasted potato, PX sauce”. Just in case you were wondering, PX sauce refers to the sauce made with Pedro Ximenez wine.

Their Paella Negra had black cuttlefish ink soffrito, crispy baby squid, parsley alioli. Alioli is the same as aioli – it’s simply what it’s called in Spain.

Their Sangria Blanca had white wine, orange liquor, soda and mixed fruits. Their Sangria Rojo had red wine, brandy, orange juice, soda and mixed fruits. What can I say about their sangria? It was fruity and refreshing. I never say no to good sangria.

We didn’t order desserts because we were so full already. That’s reserved for another time. I also didn’t get to walk around the restaurant and take pictures because people were there to celebrate Valentine’s Day. I didn’t want to intrude with my camera!

Verdict:

Deo Gracias is an amazing Spanish restaurant in Quezon City. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating with free WiFi. There’s ample parking space in the back. They have very attentive servers whose food recommendations were all pretty good. Surprisingly, they’re pet-friendly too!

There are two sections inside – the El Comedor (Resto) and the La Tienda (Deli). I didn’t get to check out La Tienda that day. Perhaps next time.

Eating there feels like home because it was actually a house converted into a restaurant. I like how they don’t rely on any gimmickry at Deo Gracias. They focus more on serving really delicious food – not focus on being Insta-worthy – because that’s what restaurants are supposed to do in the first place. By the time you’re done eating, you might just end up saying “Deo Gracias”…thanks be to God.
