The first time I tried to make cream puffs, it was an off-day.
- I followed a recipe that turned out badly.
- The puff’s not as puffy as I’d like.
- Only the cream filling was good. Let me correct that, it was perfect.
- While melting the sugar, my husband melted the spatula just when the sugar was golden brown! I tasted it just to see if it was still OK. It was but there were bits of spatula in it, so I threw it away. Ick.
Status: DO-OVER!
Since I won’t rest easy until I know what went wrong, I re-did the experiment.
