A new restaurant in Bethel, CT has caught my attention lately everytime we passed by it – Copas Restaurant & Bar – located between Dunkin Donuts and House of Yoshida. Since it was Valentine’s Day yesterday, we were inundated with choices where to go. In the end, we decided to stay close and ended up at Copas. They’re new. We’ve never eaten there, plus it looks promising from the outside.
I ordered this delicious Chocolate Martini made with Godiva® chocolate liqueur, creme de cacao and Absolut vodka. Love the heart-shaped strawberry!
My husband ordered the Chuletas a la Parilla, grilled pork chops with rice, white beans and salad. The thick slices of pork chops were surprisingly tender.
I had their Arroz de Mar, an all-seafood rice dish with clams, mussels, red snapper, calamari and shrimp in a tomato base.
For our dessert, hubby and I shared this Papaya con Helado that was basically caramelized papaya with vanilla ice cream garnished with fresh mint.
Here’s a quick shot of their bar.
Here’s their dining room.
Verdict: Copas Restaurant & Bar is owned and managed by the husband-and-wife team of Chef Carlos Flores and Sandra Parra-Flores who is also behind New Milford’s La Piccolina. While La Piccolina serves authentic Northern Italian cuisine, Copas Restaurant & Bar focuses on bringing Latin American flavors to Bethel and its neighboring areas. We chatted with the owners and discovered how both Copas and La Piccolina are labors of love.
What does “copas” mean, you might wonder? It means “elegant bar glasses”, a nod to the bar that greets you immediately upon entering the restaurant. They offer bar seating in front of the restaurant while there are booths and tables in the back.
This family-owned Copas Restaurant & Bar is truly a fantastic addition to the area. Their appetizing food made with fresh ingredients and served in generous portions, coupled with their warm hospitality makes this a restaurant definitely worth a visit.
