Who knew about Big Frank’s Barbeque & Grill? Not us. We rarely go to Waterbury, but we went there lately and discovered this barbecue place, Big Frank’s Barbeque & Grill.
We were actually the first customers of the day. We simply walked up to a service counter, picked and chose what we wanted from the menu board, ordered and then paid at the cashier. We sat in a booth and didn’t wait too long for our food, which we picked up at the counter. Service started humming along soon enough. While we were eating, there was a fine balance of people eating in and getting food to go.

Hubby ordered baby back ribs and quarter chicken with cornbread. Check out the beautiful bark!
I had their BBQ Beef brisket sandwich platter with a generous portion of french fries and cornbread.
Verdict: For the price we paid during our visit, the food was really a good deal. The ribs, chicken and brisket were all simply juicy and meaty. Sure, the cornbread was nothing to write home about, but we went there for the barbecue, not the cornbread. For some reason, Big Frank’s reminded us of a barbecue place we discovered in Montana (see my post here), although Big Frank’s has a more varied menu and is more themed with its wood carved pig decorations.
Big Frank’s is proof that good barbecue can be as simple as ABC. If you’re looking for a casual dining restaurant that specializes in barbecue with food that’s wallet-friendly, then Big Frank’s Barbeque & Grill is the place to go.
