If you’ve never been to the Philippines, allow me to introduce you to Amici, an Italian restaurant in Manila. While it originally started in Makati, they ended up opening a branch in Quezon City, which is where yours truly grew up. Anyway, my mom, my sister and I went to Amici back in 2013. We actually went there for an afternoon snack and my goodness, what delightful snacks we had!
Check out these cakes. How do you even choose?
Here’s their assortment of gelati.
They even offered Durian Gelato!
More of the good stuff!
Mom wanted coffee, but I told her to give affogato a try. Here’s her Tiramisu Twist Affogato. What a pretty little thing!
We ordered some Arancini (Fried Risotto Balls) filled with savory meat ragu and mozzarella cheese.
Plus some Mozzarella Fritto, golden fried mozzarella sticks served with tangy pomodoro sauce.
I tried the Durian Gelato. I’ve never eaten durian in my life, but this is a baby step in that direction. Next time I’m in the Philippines, maybe I’ll try to eat the actual durian fruit.
While Amici has been around for years, it was my first time to try their food. I remember it was tough choosing what to eat because everything looked delicious. Thankfully, the food portions were enough for sharing and reasonably priced too. I think next time around, I’ll give their pasta a try for a proper meal, not just an afternoon snack.
