It was a cold, rainy night that brought about an appetite for a bowl of hot soup. Ramen, in particular. A Google search yielded a new site to check out – Ramenesque. With two locations (one in Thornwood, another in Fishkill), we didn’t know where to go. We wound up in Thornwood since we’ve never been there.
When we got there, there were other diners but the place was not packed. We got seated quickly.
Hubby ordered their Dan Dan Ramen, a “spicy broth of sesame paste and spicy bean paste with spiced chicken.”
I had my usual Tonkotsu Ramen, a “spiced pork bone soup with a swirl of black garlic oil.” I’ve never had this ramen with corn kernels.
Verdict: Let me be clear, RameNesque is not a ramen joint; it’s a ramen restaurant. When you enter the place, you pass the sushi bar on your way to the dining area. The place is well-lit with a nice contemporary Japanese motif with wood panels. They even have a nice indoor pond with a waterfall, which I thought was awesome. Service was friendly and fast enough. There were plenty of parking in the back. It is located right across a Mobil gas station and Walgreens. As for the ramen? Definitely worth the drive on a rainy night. It’s a good place to indulge a ramen craving. We’re even planning to visit the Fishkill branch soon.
