Back in June, I blogged about my Little Herb Garden.
Since then, it has expanded to include other produce like watermelon, squash and bush beans. Here’s how it looks like now.
Color me proud that my Brandywine tomato plant has yielded two tomatoes so far. There are tiny ones still in the early stages of growth, but I’m truly happy to see these two little tomatoes. Now if only I know when it’s ready for the picking…
As for the basil, mint, parsley and cilantro, I use all four herbs when I’m in the mood to cook omelette. I just chop some leaves and throw them into the eggs and other ingredients.
All except the cilantro grew really fast. For some reason, I thought it was struggling, then it yielded some flowers (or bolts based on this article). Guess I’ll just buy another pot of cilantro to grow. At least I can expect to get some coriander from it.
From this group, I use basil often. I make Tomato, Mozzarella, and Basil Salad practically every other night drizzled with a mixture of balsamic vinegar and olive oil in equal parts.
I haven’t really used the mint leaves for anything exciting. Mostly I added it to salad or boiled it for tea. Maybe I can use it to make mojito.
As for the Miracle Gro Groables, the watermelon, pumpkin and bush beans seem to be doing well. Hopefully, I will see some results from them soon.
Who knew growing your own produce can be so relaxing and fun? Had I known, I would’ve done this sooner. Maybe I should add scallions, garlic and onions to the mix in the future.
