Eating Out: Northern Smoke | Carmel, NY

Rarely does my hankering for barbecue strike but when it does, it strikes hard.

After searching unsuccessfully for barbecue here in area, I widened my search and discovered Northern Smoke in Carmel, NY. Before going there for dinner, hubby and I checked their menu online. We checked and checked, but couldn’t decide on an item or two because they have so many tasty offerings. Finally, we decided to just go. We’ll decide when we get there.

When we got there, most of the tables were occupied by couples. Only one table had four persons. The couples seemed to have ordered the same thing, so when it was our turn to order at the counter, I pointed to the tables and asked the girl what the others were eating Turns out it was their “Sampler for Two” ($32.95) – ‘Choice of Four Meats: Pulled Pork, Pulled Chicken, Brisket, Sausage, 1/2 Chicken, Spare Ribs. (Includes two sides and cornbread)'”. It sounded like a good deal, although it had too much meat without veggies. We added their Roasted Brussels sprouts w/ Bacon and Caramelized Sweet Onions to fulfill our veggie desires.

By meal’s end, I even got to chat with the owner, Chris. Told him how fantastic the barbecue was.

Verdict: Barbecue craving satisfied.
